When I was younger, I was taught "once saved, always saved" but now I
believe we can turn our backs on God and give up our salvation when
we knowingly commit sin, such as adultery. (The Bible says in
Revelation that aldulters are among those who will not see the gates of
Heaven.) If one claims to be saved and then sleeps around on his or
her spouse, still expecting to go to heaven, then he/she is deluded.
The true evidence of salvation is the loss of desire to do such things
(or at least the strength to resist the temptation.)
