to the World
By Anna Vail
Jesus Christ suffered more pain and sorrow and grief than any person who has ever lived;
has or ever will experience. And knowing that many people would not accept this sacrifice, He still did it.
After He suffered the greatest pain ever known in the Garden of Gathsemane, He humbly and meekly allowed
those whom He had just suffered for to take Him to scourge Him, to mock Him, to beat Him, and to crucify Him.
And He forgave every single one of them
I have seen more pain and sorrow in the lives of people as a missionary than I ever imagined could be suffered.
It has tested my knowledge of Christ and what He can do for us. I know there is no pain He has not felt, no
disappointment, no forsaking, nothing that we can feel that He has not felt. And He felt it all so He would
know how to succor us in our afflictions.
What I should do with this knowledge is to do everything I can to make my life more like His. To serve as He served.
To come to know Him through doing what He would do if He were standing in my place. To think what He would think.br>
I can not comprehend the love that Jesus Christ has for each one of us. The atonement was infinite, but it was for
each individual. It was truly love's finest hour when Christ bore our pains. I know that He loves each of us and
He stands with open arms waiting for us to "Come unto Him" and be perfected in him.
I am amazed at the blessings that the Atonement of Jesus Christ has brought into my life. I know that because of
His atonement I am sealed to an eternal family that I love and that I can be with for eternity. Because of Him,
I can overcome sin and death and know a fullness of joy. I can enjoy the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost
who helps me, teaches me, comforts me, and leads me back to my Father in Heaven.br>
I am so grateful to my family for what they have taught me about Jesus Christ. Through word and most especially
through action and the lives that they live.
The journey to become like Christ is not an easy one. But He has blessed us so richly and has made it possible for us.
