My testimony
to the World

By Cordell Vail

I consider it a great privilege to bear my solemn witness to you of the truthfulness of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in these Latter-days. I have spent my whole life studying the Church Of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter-day Saints. I know with out a doubt that it is the restoration of the gospel promised in the Bible by Peter when he said:

Acts 3:18-21
"18 - But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
19 - Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20 - And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21 - Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began."

I know as surely as I live that this promised restitution of all things has come about. Jesus Christ has truly revealed Himself again in our time to a living prophet. He has as promised, restored the fullness of the gospel and I stand as a witness to you of the truthfulness of it. I know from my own study and answers to my own prayers that we have a living prophet on the earth today just as there have been living prophets in other times of the world.

In Amos 3:7 it says, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets". If God loves us, which I have a sure witness that he does, why would He not call prophets in our time as much as in any other time of the world. We need a living prophet to guide us in these perilous times more than in any other time of the world. And it is my witness to you that we do have a living prophet today to guide us and help us. I am so grateful to have the privilege to be born in a time when I can hear the voice of a living prophet to receive instructions that help me live as Christ would have me live and especially to be able to use that knowledge to help me raise my family.

But most of all, I stand as a witness to you that Jesus is the very Christ. I know that because of Him our sins can be forgiven if we will repent as Peter invites us to do in the above cited scripture and follow His teachings. He loves us. He knows us even by our first name. I know that He desires that we keep His commandments and not be lead astray by those bearing witness that in our day we do not need to keep His commandments anymore. Jesus taught us in John 8:34 where is says,

"Jesus answered them, verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin."

I give you my witness that I know that he intends us to live as he lived. Jesus Himself said in John 14:15

"If ye love me, keep my commandments".

I challenge you to make a careful study of the Bible and learn what His commandments are. Don't allow the teachers of our times to convince you that Moses only received the "Ten Suggestions". I can tell you from my own experience that living Christ's commandments as best a person can brings great blessings into a persons life. Breaking His commandments for what ever excuse you use to do it will bring great sorrow into your life and sadness in your family. Be faithful. Live His commandments and His perfect love will touch your life and the lives of all of your family. What greater gift from God can we have than a loving family. When I hear friends say they are saved and do not need to live His commandments now and I see the lives they live because of that belief, when I see the sadness that it brings to their families, it makes me very sad.

I am grateful for the Book Of Mormon. I declare to you after a life time of study that it is the Word Of God. It is a second witness of Jesus Christ. It stands as a second witness along with the Bible that Jesus is the Christ. If you have not read the Book of Mormon, I invite you to join me in reading it. I promise you that as you read it, if you will pray and ask our Father in Heaven to reveal to you the truthfulness of that Book, HE WILL! I promise you that He will give you a burning testimony of it's truthfulness just as He has given that witness to me and my family. It is a book of holy scripture. It will bring great joy and happiness to you and your family if you will open your heart and receive the truth that it contains.

I know that Jesus is the Christ. I know because I have spent my whole life studying His life and praying for a witness of my own. I have received it like fire in my soul. And I share that witness with you. I pray that as you read this, that the same witness that I have in my heart of knowing that He lives and will forgive our sins as we repent, will fill your heart as it has mine.

I pray that as you read my testimony here now, that you will receive my witness that the Book of Mormon is from God. I bear you my witness that it is true. I have read it many times. I have prayed and received a witness that it is of God. And I ask now that you too might receive that same witness. It is true!

I tell you again that I know as surely as I know that I am alive that we have true and living prophets on the earth today. And I can tell you from personal experience that if you will follow the things they have said that you will be happy and your life will be filled with joy and peace. They will lead you to Jesus Christ and the fullness of His gospel. Your family will be happy in a way that could not be achieved in any other way than by following the words of these living prophets who are Jesus Christ's representatives on the earth today. I am so grateful for the great privilege to have been married by a man who had the power to seal on earth and in heaven the same as promised to the Apostle Peter in Matt 16:19. I love my wife with all my heart and soul and could not bear the thought of not being able to be married to her in the next life as well as this life. I thank God for that great gift of eternal marriage in his holy temple that I did not have to make a vow to her until death due us part.

That is my witness to you. I pray now that if you do not know if these things are true, that you will be able to come to know as I know that these things are true. That is my witness to you and I send that witness to you and my blessing in the name of Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen
